What To Bring To The Dealership When You're Ready To Buy Or Lease in Kennesaw, GA

When you're getting ready to finally get behind the wheel of the car of your dreams, it's important to not lose sight of what's still ahead of you in terms of buying or leasing. The process might be complicated sometimes, but if you prepare, it can go very smoothly.

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to call us or stop by and talk to one of our sales reps. We're happy to help you in any way we can.

1. Your driver's license.

When you're filling out your paperwork, you'll want to have your license on hand since you'll need proper identification. However, there's also a chance that the dealership might already have your license on file if you’ve taken the vehicle for a test-drive.

2. Your Social Security number.

If you don't know it by heart, bring your social security card along with you. Even if you are buying the vehicle outright -- without any financing -- the dealer will still need your Social for tax purposes. Almost all financial transactions valued at over $10,000 are required to be reported to the IRS.

3. Proof of car insurance.

You can't buy a car without this key piece of paper. There are laws in all 50 states requiring drivers to have some kind of insurance because it protects everyone on the road.

4. Your wallet.

You’ll have to pay for your vehicle somehow, whether that's through financing, cash, a cashier’s check or a credit card. There are several options to pay these days, and depending on how much your car is worth, it makes sense to figure out the best way to do so ahead of time. When leasing, you’ll normally have to make some kind of a down payment on the vehicle.

5. Proof of employment, residence and salary.

Depending on your credit rating, you may need to bring these things with you.

6. A few hours to fill out all of the paperwork.

It can be a time-consuming process, especially if you're applying for financing.

For trading in your old car you'll need:

7. A trade-in appraisal.

Typically you'll have your appraisal performed at the dealership that you're trading it in to, and many times they'll be good for up to three days.

8. Your old car's title:

Once you trade it in, you'll have to turn this over since you're releasing ownership of the vehicle.
