Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ Explained in Kennesaw, GA

Toyota is at it again. Fresh new 2021 models are on the market (and stocked in our new inventory), equipped with the latest innovations in technology, fuel-efficiency and, of course, safety. Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ takes the six-member fleet of features and enhances two key components in order to bring more processing power and wider functionality to your new Toyota. Recent upgrades to the renowned safety system are standard in the 2021 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid, the 2021 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, but Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ is expected to become more involved with the full Toyota lineup in later years.

2.5+ Enhancements

What makes 2.5+ better? It builds on two pre-existing features — Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control — and adds a whole new level of proactive functionality.

Joining the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Bicyclist Detection can sense an oncoming cyclist or pedestrian in both the daytime and in low-light conditions, send audio and visual alerts and even perform automatic braking if necessary to stop a collision.

Also new for 2021 models, Curve Speed Management is part of the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) feature. By using the camera and yaw sensors (a sensor that measures the vehicle’s angular velocity) to reduce speed beforehand, the high-tech cruise control system will feel more natural to the driver when taking curves.
